Delimbiyr Sausage Roll: Mid-Morning Munchies with Wilbur

The Kitchen at Old Nan’s Manor, my abode of culinary enchantment, is where I find my morning solace. And what a morning it was, as I embarked on an adventure of making the unrivaled Delimbiyr Sausage Roll.

Now, as you may have heard, Old Nan, is never one to shy away from sharing her thoughts—especially when it involves my sausages. Her voice cut through the Kitchen’s hustle and bustle, “Must you always make such a ruckus, Wilbur? The scent of sausages clings to every nook and cranny!”

But Nan’s wisecracks don’t sway me. “Oh, Nan, your love for my sausages has never waned, I see. Why, back in our adventuring days, that savory aroma was the melody to your morning hymn!”

In this memory-laden moment, I bring you the Delimbiyr Sausage Roll. What better way to savor the humor in simplicity than to enjoy the flaky pastry and savory sausage filling of this halfling classic? So, let’s embark on this culinary adventure rich with sausage aroma that fills every corner of Old Nan’s Manor.

Ingredients:


  • 1 pound bulk pork sausage
  • 2 sheets puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 egg

Directions:


Step 1: The Heart of the Filling

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). In a frying pan over medium heat, crumble and cook the sausage until evenly browned. Remove from heat and drain excess grease.

Step 2: Assembling the Rolls

On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry sheets into rectangles. Spread the cooked sausage over the pastry sheets, leaving a small border around the edges. Roll the pastry sheets into logs, tucking in the sides as you go.

Step 3: Ready for Baking

Place the rolls on a baking sheet, seam side down. Beat the egg in a small bowl, then brush the rolls with the beaten egg for a beautiful golden finish.
